Mantle of Fish-Belly White
When the masses linger in dreamland, she quietly ascends to the sky, subtly adorning herself with a new attire: a mantle of fish-belly white, concealing a serene glow. Her hue eludes your gaze. Ease is all the garment she wears. When she arrives, the god of night dares not linger, retreating along with the darkness to where he came from. She can only momentarily hover in the heavens, seeming affectionate yet indifferent, then hastily hides away. When she departs, she heralds the dawn’s light.
Urban dwellers, caught in their habitual rest, at this time, are deeply lost in sweet dreams, covering themselves with embroidered quilts. Who would worship the colors of nature at this hour, or have the patience to awaken and admire this serene spectacle? Besides, it’s just this mantle of fish-belly white, devoid of any pinkish hue, not varying with weather’s whim. Serene and easy, it eternally appears through the ages. Who would care about her, let alone understand her.
Perhaps you might find her petty, inflexible, with her mantle veiling the her true face. She comes and goes in a fleeting manner. How should one sing of her? The heartstrings are already stirred, she comes without announcement and leaves without trace. She wards off the darkness, with light following her graceful path. In that brief moment of existence or non-existence, she refuses to adopt the tactics of the darkness to lure one back into dreams. She does not compete for affection with the daylight, nor stir people into action. Ignoring her, though close, we are separated by a vast distance from the ethereal mountain. Understand her! She maintains her duty, reveals serenity and ease, and contains endless passion.
